Lindsay's Hat

Good morning blog world!  I haven't been posting as often as I would like.  I've just been so busy!  Over on Craftster there seems to be a Hat-Making disease going around.  And I am not immune to anything going around on Craftster lol!  Now I have a list about a mile long of hats that I want to make that I've found around the internet.  The hat that I just made is very simple, and would make a great base for any hat.  I made it for my oldest daughter the other night after she went to bed.  It only took me a few hours to make it, and I surprised her with it in the morning.   She is only 2, so trying to get her to sit still and model was a nightmare!  I must have taken a million pics of her lol.  I really should invest in a mannequin head, but it's kinda creepy I think.
Here she is, enjoying her new hat!
Here is the link for the pattern; Butterfly Hat
Her blog is very nice, and she has a few other patterns as well as some nice photography.  Happy hooking!

Are You Kidding Me?

Well, sometimes life takes a step forward and then two steps back.  For example, my husband is back to work, things are looking up, and then I happen to wake up Saturday morning to find my side by side refrigerator, freezer combo is completely room temperature.  Including all of the contents.  This is fridge number five in three years.  I'm sick of used and abused things!!!  So just when I thought the coast was clear, I have to up and buy a brand new refrigerator!!!! Hence the title of today's post.  Are you kidding me?  For real?  It seems as though every year around this time, something expensive happens.  That's life I guess.  Something is bound to happen when you least expect it to, and when you want it the least!  In crochet news, I am scrambling to get to the post office to buy a stamp so I can renew my subscription to Crochet World.  I love this magazine.  I recommend it to anyone looking for a good pattern source.  Also, I am working on that Queen Anne's Lace Scarf.  It's about half done right now.  I wasn't sure if I liked it while I was making it.  But as it's getting longer, I like it more and more.  I found a cute hat to go with it too, so I'm pretty excited!! Now I'm just hoping that my nice winter coat still fits after having baby number 2 last February!  Hugs and Stitches!

Summer's End

Wow, I can't believe that next week will be the end of August!  I've noticed how fast time goes by as you get older.  I don't like it one bit!  Today is pretty cold in southern Ontario, I'm wearing a sweater, and I love it!  I would love to live somewhere that is always cool enough to wear a sweater, but never hot enough to break a sweat.  I was born in December, so my theory is because I'm a winter baby, I don't like the hot weather.  My hubby was born in July and he loves the summer weather, so I guess for our family this theory is true!  As the winter months are quickly approaching, the panic of Christmas is setting in.  I have to start buying gifts so I'm not stuck at the last minute with no money!  I'm trying to finish up all the projects I've got going so I can start making scarves and gloves for friends and family.  I found a pattern for a Queen Anne's Lace scarf that I absolutely love, so I'm going to actually make something for myself.

I also plan on making some matching mittens. I would really love to make a hat to go with the set, but I can't find anything I like yet.  And with two little girls under the age of 3, I have nooooo time to create my own design!

Hooray for the Internet!

My computer has been broken for the last few weeks, and I finally am back on the net!!!  It never occurred to me just how much time I spend on the computer.  But then I noticed how much free time I had!  So in lieu of surfing the web, I of course started a new project lol.  My brother gave me a Monster Ball from phantex for Xmas last year.  I started an afghan and didn't like it, so I frogged it.  And I started looking through my Crochet World magazines.  I found an Infant Aran Hoodie, and fell in love!!  I'm making it for Madison, I've never made clothing before, but so far it's going good.  I'll be sure to post a pic when I get finished!  I have a subscription to this great magazine, and recommend it to everyone!! This is the issue that the hoodie is featured in, you can order this as a back issue from the crochet world website.

Back at Work

Hooray!! Hubby is back to work after being laid off for about 3 months.  Yes, lots of other people have been laid off for a lot longer than that,  but our second daughter was only 2 months old when this lay off happened.  And of course panic set in.  This seems to be a horrible pattern for our family.  When our first daughter was born he was laid off right away too.  So we have decided on no more children lol.  Well truthfully, we decided on no more children for many other reasons.  Like my having to have a c-section every time, and the horrible healing afterwards.  So even though we didn't get our son, we have two beautiful daughters, and I wouldn't trade them for anything.
